Thank you for your interest in Empowered: A study in the person of the Holy Spirit, the spiritual enablement that the Spirit brings to Old and New Testament believers, and the ministry gifts that can operate in our lives as a result of Spirit baptism.
“So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit.” Ephesians 5:17-18
Purpose of the class:
Since the Holy Spirit is the third person in the godhead and serves as the administrator of all that Jesus does in the earth, we need to gain a clearer understanding of who He is, how He enabled men and woman throughout biblical history to live in constant victory and empowered ministry, and the ministry gifts that can operate in our lives as Spirit-filled believers.
Just as the ministry of Jesus, as the Christ must be charismatic and inaugurated by the anointed of the Spirit, so the ministry of His disciples, heirs and successors to His own ministry, must be both charismatic (Acts 1:8), and inaugurated by the baptizing/filling of the Spirit (Acts 1:5; 2:4).
Focus of the class:
We will be looking briefly at the following: the person, deity, names, and symbols of the Holy Spirit; His activity in the Old Testament; the work of the Spirit in justification and sanctification; the charismatic Christ; the Holy Spirit in John’s gospel and book of Acts; the baptism in the Holy Spirit; and the seven reasons why we need the power of the Holy Spirit.
Goal of the class:
“If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.” Galatians 5:25)
“Or do you think that the Scripture speaks to no purpose: ‘He jealously desires the Spirit which He has made to dwell in us”?” James 4:5)
We desire to see you live a Spirit-filled life that touches your family, work place, and the kingdom of God wherever and whenever the Spirit can use you to speak, serve, and release the ministry of the risen Christ to needs. What the Spirit does in and through our lives is never for “show” but for “go”. Go into all the world and let your light shine before men by the empowerment of a Spirit-filled and Spirit-led walk.
